Eye Centers of Florida welcomes Dr. David J. Overholt

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Aug. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- Eye Centers of Florida welcomes David J. Overholt, O.D., a Board Certified Optometric Physician, to its South Fort Myers office located at 15661 San Carlos Blvd., Suite 4, Fort Myers, FL 33908. He will provide optometry services including examination and diagnosis of eye diseases, testing for eyeglasses and contact lenses, cataract evaluations, and treatment of glaucoma and retinal diseases.   

Originally from Buffalo, NY, Dr. Overholt first became interested in the field of optometry while serving as an optometric technician in the United States Air Force from 1997 to 2002. Dr. Overholt received his Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of Florida in 2007 and his Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University, College of Optometry in 2012. His clinical externships were with Ophthalmologic Consultants and the Center for Lasik, Margate, FL and Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute, Fort Lauderdale, FL, followed by pediatric, contact lens and clinical rotations.

Dr. Overholt is licensed to practice by the Florida Board of Optometry and the Georgia Board of Optometry and is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. He is a member of the Florida Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and Ocular Nutrition Society. Past honors include: Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society of Agriculture, Tau Sigma National Honor Society, and the Golden Key International Honour Society.
