Total 3D News launches new 3D printing website

New website provides editorial and up-to-date news on the burgeoning 3D printing industry

CHICAGO - Aug. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Chicago, IL – With the recent merger of Stratasys and MakerBot, the announcements that 3D printers would be making their way into Staples and UPS’s retail locations, and the countless inquiries as to the future of the laser-sintering technology, 3D printing is quickly becoming one of the hottest and most talked about topics around. So in response to the growing need for a concise 3D printing news source, Total 3D News officially launched its services today at total3dnews.com.

“I just wanted to give readers a place where they could not only hear the most recent 3D printing stories,” says Total 3D News founder David Ashton, “but the way that those stories connect to the larger saga of 3D printing as a whole.”

While the website is still in the early phases of its construction, Ashton and his fellow writers are already providing editorial and news content on at least a daily basis. This includes a special section titled “Kickstarting” which aims to draw attention to the latest 3D printing campaigns on crowdsourcing platform Kickstarter. There are some restrictions, however, and Ashton specifies on the website that “the idea is to support new products – rather than the purchase of a single product for one person / organization.” The writers at Total 3D News also place special emphasis on stories related to the possibility of a mass-market for desktop 3D printers, already citing the topic in many of their posts to-date.

Plans for Total 3D News’ short-tem growth include additional pages and charts outlining the main 3D printers, services, and software programs; as well as a monthly overview of the biggest 3D printing stories. “So check in often in the days and weeks to come,” concludes Ashton, “and we’ll make sure you walk away with a fresh perspective you can’t find anywhere else.”

Total 3D News is headquartered in Chicago, IL. Anyone interested in speaking with Ashton or Total 3D News should direct his or her inquiries to the site’s contact forms, available at total3Dnews.com/about/how-to-get-involved.
