Cerritos College Instructor Awarded Title of Accredited SolidWorks Educator

Cerritos College Instructor of Engineering Technology, Dr. Miodrag Micic, Sc.D., Ph.D., M.T.M., C.S.W.P. recently passed the SolidWorks CATE exam and was awarded the title of “Accredited SolidWorks Educator.”

NORWALK, Calif. - Aug. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- This new international certification, "Accredited SolidWorks Educator" has been recently introduced by Dassault Design System to distinguish the best CAD educators.

In order to qualify for the title of “Accredited SolidWorks Educator”, an instructor must hold special SolidWorks certifications, work for a college that has active “CSWA exam provider” status, and demonstrate a very high level of competency by passing the “Technology Educator Competency Exam” (TECE) designed by Dassault Design System.

Dr. Miodrag Micic was able to qualify to take this exam since he has previously achieved the status of “Certified SolidWorks Professional” (C.S.W.P.). Dr. Micic has been an active user of SolidWorks since 2003, and is currently the Cerritos College campus guru for the SolidWorks software.

The benefit of Dr. Micic’s involvement with SolidWorks is that he has been able to implement SolidWorks certification programs in all of Cerritos College SolidWorks classes. Cerritos College students start their journey towards multiple certifications by taking the online “Certified SolidWorks Associate” exam. The class that prepares them for this exam is an introductory level class called ENGT259 (SolidWorks). Students can then progress towards the “Certified SolidWorks Professional” certification by registering in the ENGT260 (Advanced SolidWorks) class. Students can also take the “Certified Sustainable Design Associate certification” exam after taking the NPD103 class (Tooling/Materials for New Product Development). Students taking the ENGT237 (Statics and Strength of Materials) class are well prepared to take the “Certified SolidWorks Simulation Associate-FEA”. As a result of Dr. Micic’s efforts, Cerritos College has been invited as a special guest to the National SolidWorks conference to take place in San Diego in January 2014.

“Cerritos College Technology Divison is one of the first colleges in the nation to have a faculty member with the “Accredited Solidworks Educator” credential, “said  Dr. Nick Real, Dean of Technology Division. “This voluntary certification of our first instructor is part of our continuing improvements effort in the Technology Division. Our goal in the Engineering Design Technology department is to become the premier Solidworks certification school in Southern California.”

The Cerritos College Engineering Technology program prepares students for transfer to "Engineering Technology" programs and for employment in technical fields. By completing the certificate or degree, students acquire knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering technology and are able to specialize in one of three options: Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Industrial Engineering Technology. If you are interested in attending the Engineering Technology program, visit us online at http://cms.cerritos.edu/et/ and https://www.facebook.com/CerritosCollegeFabLabs or call Dr. Miodrag Micic at (562) 860-2451 Ext. 2910 or email him at mmicic@Cerritos.edu.
