COLUMBIA, S.C. - Aug. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- MIRCI assists individuals in the Greater Columbia area who have severe mental illness by helping them recover in the areas of their lives impacted by their illness through housing, behavioral healthcare, and assistance with obtaining and managing their disability income. The funds from the TD Charitable Foundation will support MIRCI’s Housing and Homeless programs.  These programs include integrated Assertive Community Treatment to individuals who are homeless and have a mental illness, and help to transition them into stable supported housing. Throughout the next year, MIRCI will serve/screen/refer 300 individuals through our homeless outreach; and house at least 150 formerly homeless through our HomeBase and Supportive Housing Programs.

“Support from the TD Charitable Foundation will be instrumental in providing necessities to homeless individuals moving into housing” says Julie Ann Avin, Executive Director of MIRCI. “These folks are literally starting from scratch and need assistance with everything from linens to kitchen supplies; medication for their illness to transportation to medical appointments; and the donation from the Foundation will help us meet these needs.”

A staunch commitment to active involvement in the local community is a vital element of the TD Bank philosophy. TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank® and the TD Charitable Foundation provide support to affordable housing, financial literacy and education, and environmental initiatives, many of which focus on improving the welfare of children and families.
