Fertility Preservation Network Sponsors Team in Twin Cities Breast Cancer Fundraiser

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Aug. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- ReproTech, Ltd. was proud to sponsor a team in the Hartford and RE/MAX Results Breast Cancer 2-day Bike Ride on August 3-4.  ReproTech's St. Paul, MN office Site Director, Jill Olson, participated for the sixth consecutive year with her team Bosom Buddies.  Jill biked 100 miles in 2 days in last weekend's ride, with her team raising nearly $2000.00. Overall funds raised for the event totaled over 170K. Participants also included U.S. Paralympic Games medalist, Oscar (Oz) Sanchez, who won both gold (team relay) and bronze (individual time trial) medals in the 2012 London Paralympics.

Earlier in 2013, ReproTech sponsored employee teams in the Reno, NV, Twin Cities, MN, Savannah, GA and South Florida areas in races and events benefitting the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, as well as a prostate cancer fundraiser, Dash for Dads, in Sparks, NV. ReproTech regularly sponsors or contributes funds to cancer fundraising events in the areas where its employees and three regional facilities reside, Ft. Lauderdale/Coconut Creek, Florida; Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, Reno, Nevada; and Dallas/Mesquite, Texas. Upcoming cancer fundraising events to be sponsored by ReproTech, Ltd. include additional Susan G. Komen for the Cure events, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN) events and other local events benefitting cancer survivors and research.

For the 140,000 American men and women under age 45 who are newly diagnosed with cancer each year, chemotherapy and other treatments can affect their reproductive system and fertility.  There is often a small window of time for these men and women to preserve their fertility; therefore, access to cryopreservation services is extremely important.  Both the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) recommend the education of oncology patients about the options available to preserve their fertility.

ReproTech, Ltd has organized the Fertility Preservation Network to educate oncology professionals and caretakers, as well as provide the much needed cryopreservation services for men and women. The network now includes members in 35 states and the Caribbean. Additionally, the work of fertileHOPE and LiveSTRONG has advanced the awareness of the need for Fertility Preservation among the oncology community.

About the Hartford and RE/MAX Results Breast Cancer Ride
The Hartford and RE/MAX Results Breast Cancer Ride is an annual two-day bicycling event supports the work of local Twin Cities breast cancer service organizations and Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Minnesota Affiliate.  Riders bike between 100 and 150 miles over the two-day event, and each rider is required to raise a minimum of $750 in pledges, except students and minors, who are required to raise $375.  Susan G.
