Follow on Google News | New Arts and Craft Workshops to take place in Slade Barn, Gower, WalesGower Hen Parties will be providing fun and interesting arts and craft workshops for people staying at Slade Barn, Gower in the near future. These additional "add on" sessions are expected to attract even more guests to the award winning cottage.
Gower Hen Parties will be running some of their art and craft workshops in Slade Barn, Gower and other cottages, this Autumn and more people from all over the UK are expected to sign up for the fun and interesting sessions, taking place on most Saturdays. "We are delighted to be able to invite people who stay in our cottage, the opportunity to take part in arts and craft sessions run by Gower Hen Parties," says Martin Howell, the owner of Slade Barn "We have a larage kitchen table in our beautiful barn and it is very well lit with halogen bulbs and three large veluxe roof lights so it is perfect for crafting." Guests will be able to have fun by the fireside; floristry, paper crafting, sewing/upcycling and vintage workshops will be on offer to our guests, when they spend the weekend with us," says Patricia Hodge, of Gower Hen Parties. Local artists, crafters and teachers will be on hand, by special arrangement to make sure everyone has a really special and relaxing weekend by the sea. Slade Barn is an award winning barn conversion (Gower Society Design Award 2010, LABC Cymru Building Excellence Award - Highly Commended for Home Conversions 2011) which nestles in a curve of hillside at the head of a valley connecting Slade hamlet and beach. The barn is in a secluded area of South Gower and is surrounded by farmland, footpaths and twisting lanes. Only a stone's throw from the beach and located between the villages of Oxwich, Penrice, Horton and Port Eynon, it is an ideal base from which to explore the Gower Peninsula's many attractions. This 300 year old self-contained, newly converted and lime-washed barn retains its charm and character by featuring local materials and solid oak fittings. It also contains contemporary slate, marble and granite surfaces, solar panels, under floor and ground source heating, as well as a TV and wood burning stove. The combination of old and new work perfectly and you will soon feel at home. There are three en-suite bedrooms (two double and one second floor twin), one of the double rooms is designed to accommodate the less able. The whole building is easily accessible and there is a large, high roofed open plan living/dining area with Corbusier style furniture and a hand built kitchen. Outside, the south facing garden allows views from the sitting area of Lundy Island and Devon and ample car parking space for 3 cars plus the driveway which provides some extra space. A one and a half acre paddock and the owner's adjacent bungalow complete the property. Patricia Hodge of Gower Hen Parties says; "There is really no where better on Gower to stay than Slade Barn and we are delighted to offer their guests the opportunity to take part in some of our art and craft sessions, while they are staying there. We hope other cottage owners will be encouraged to come forward and offer their cottages as suitable venues for art and craft workshops too, although we will really be only selecting a few, very special and off-the-beaten track, cottage hideaways".
