Dr. Benjamin Venger Among First In Nation To Implant MRI-Safe Neuromodulation Device

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Aug. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- The Tristate Pain Institute (http://www.tspain.com) (TSPI) is proud to announce the release of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)-safe implantable neurostimulation device for use in patients with chronic pain, manufactured by the Neuromodulation division of Medtronic, Inc. Since developing the first commercial applications the 1960s, Medtronic has incrementally advanced neurostimulation through novel ideas and uses for over four decades. Those requiring magnetic resonance imaging however, have been excluded as candidates for neurostimulation - until now. Earlier this year, Medtronic received FDA approval for a revolutionary neurostimulation device, allowing patients to undergo MRI scanning safely. Now physicians can safely recommend neurostimulation for those in need of both chronic pain relief and access to accurate MRI imaging.

Having performed over 2500 neurostimulation procedures since 1991, Dr. Benjamin Venger is recognized as one of the most experienced physicians within this field. Ten years ago, Dr. Venger implanted a Medtronic neurostimulation system in comedian Jerry Lewis. Mr. Lewis’ subsequent positive and life changing experiences were documented in “Jerry’s Story,” part of Medtronic’s “Tame the Pain” initiative. Nearly a decade later, “Tame the Pain,” has allowed those unaware of neurostimulation to become both informed and empowered, to demand a life of less pain, optimistic outlook, and reconnecting (as Jerry did) to their families, friends and a future.

On August 3, 2013, Dr. Venger became the first physician in the Western United States and one of the initial three physicians nationwide to implant a fully MRI compatible neurostimulation system, with many more to follow. The TriState Pain Institute, founded in 2010 by Dr. Venger and now including pain physician Dr. Charles Stevens, has provided exceptional care to patients throughout the Arizona communities of Mohave and La Paz counties, and within those adjacent regions of Nevada and California. MRI-compatible neurostimulation reflects Drs. Venger and Stevens’ commitment to provide “big city technology with a small town feel.” The TriState Pain Institute now plans to expand into other Mohave County locations as well as Southern Nevada to provide access for those tired of medications, in need of honest opinions, and at minimum, a correct diagnosis of their chronic pain condition.

As both a neurosurgeon and pain medicine expert, Dr. Venger has a unique perspective on the current state of pain management. Dr. Venger notes, “The cost of pain conditions extends well beyond just healthcare dollars, impacting our families, communities and way of life. Thus a small initial investment in these technologies now will result in vast savings for the future.”

Dr. Venger, Dr. Stevens, and the entire team at the Tristate Pain Institute offer comprehensive care for all pain conditions including (but not limited to) spine pain, joint pain, fibromyalgia, headaches, neuropathy, post-surgical pain, and much more. The TriState Pain Institute is where cutting edge technology becomes commonplace. We cure pain, one patient at a time.

The TriState Pain Institute is open Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the office at (928) 788-3333 during business hours, or by emailing to info@tspain.com. New Patient forms are available on the website, www.tspain.com, and can be downloaded and printed from home.
