Council Estate Supermodels Go Primetime!

If you’re a regular reader of the Talent Management blog or a fan of great music you will already be familiar with UK Indie/Electro band CESM. We have been following and supporting their journey to success over the last four years – since early release ‘Travolta Fever’ gave us our most welcome collective earworm ever. The catchy, quirky track was being championed by BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong at the time and on hearing it we immediately caught the CESM bug.

In those days the band consisted of co-producing duo Jules Dent and Sam Woodford (also lead vocalist). But in 2010 Council Estate Supermodels live was born, when the pair were joined by Jamie Dent (rhythm guitar), Danny Colson (lead guitar) and Danny Knox (drums). Just one month after becoming a five-piece band the new-look CESM smashed the Isle of Wight’s notorious Bestival, walking away with a trail of gig offers, ‘best of’ awards and collaboration requests snapping at their heels.

2011 saw CESM Live (by now voted ‘Best Band on the Isle of Wight’) return to Bestival, where the extent of their popularity became clear. The stage was dramatically invaded by fans during their performance of ‘She’s Oh So Yeah’ and the show was very nearly stopped due to safety concerns for the band and members of the crowd. Despite the mayhem going on around them, the frolicsome five took it in their stride. Last year Talent Management was lucky enough to speak to co-producer Jules Dent about the incident while he was recording a video interview in East Anglia and once again he endeared himself to us with his down-to-earth attitude when he described it as, “a bit weird, a bit out of our control, but good fun”.

Since then, this winning combination of artists may well have provided the musical backdrop for some of your primetime TV viewing. Since early 2012, Council Estate Supermodels’ tracks have been used by shows such as Holly Oaks and Skins, and aired on channels like 4oD, E4, Channel 4 and Virgin. This year, the band’s catalogue of successes also includes another dynamic performance from the band at Isle of Wight Festival 2013, a ‘Best Single’ award, a video currently in production for ‘Catch Me If You Can’, and, of course, the usual abundance of radio airplay.

So what next for Council Estate Supermodels Live? Well, the guys will also be hosting their own night this month. Staying true to their roots at local venue ‘Legends Bar’ in Newport, on the 31st of August – supported by ‘Hundred Lies’. We recommend buying tickets now to avoid disappointment as this event is likely to sell out.
