Why Build a Timber Frame Home or Addition?

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Aug. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- Champlain College, Burlington, Vermont, USA [August 10, 2013] – On August 10^th the Timber Frame Business Council (TFBC) and the Timber Framers Guild (TFG) and the National Barn Alliance invites anyone interested to participate in what is being called “Family Fun Time.”  Starting at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 10^th, there are activities planned for children while parents are learning more about timber framing through a variety of sessions and hands-on demonstrations.  

The schedule for adults includes:

1:00-2:00          

Seminar: Timber Framing, An Age Old Craft Meets the Modern Era (an informative and fun session showing how to build your dream home)

2:00-3:00          

Hands-On demonstrations provided by timber framers showing techniques used. Viewers will have a chance to pitch in – including a small frame being raised. Hatchet Throwing essentials taught by timber framers for adults who’d like to learn.

3:00-3:45          

Refreshment break and more demonstrations in the “Trade Show” area, meet, greet and ask questions of timber framers, architects, and engineers who have gathered from throughout the US & Canada

3:45-5:00          

Demonstrations and participate in and/or watch the timber framers’ axe throwing competition  

The supervised schedule for children includes:

From 1:00 to 4:00 – children can participate in the building of a barn being raised by the National Barn Alliance, face painting, outdoor games and story telling

1:00-4:00

Build a tool box (supervised with breaks; limited to 5 children) ORNational Barn Alliance: Youth will erect a quarter-scale timber-frame model barn.

2:00-3:00          

Face Painting & Games

3:00-3:45          

Refreshments and choice of (a) story time (b) meet mom & dad at the exhibit hall or (c) play games

3:45-4:00          

Meet parents for remainder of afternoon
