KETTERING, U.K. - Aug. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- Snap-on Industrial, a leading global innovator, manufacturer and marketer of tools, equipment, diagnostics, repair information and systems solutions, announces the launch of the revolutionary Control-Tech (C-Tech) Industrial Torque Wrench.  This unique, multi-faceted range of Torque Wrenches combines torque and angle in a single quality wrench, providing an accurate and fast way to achieve torque while applying the correct angle tightening sequences. The range of wrenches is capable of holding 1500 readings which can be downloaded for audit purposes and quality control. The product also provides 40 pre-set password protected torque settings for secure and reliable setting of torque in sequence.

In addition, there is an innovative and patent pending technology facility of adding an extension onto the Control-Tech to provide greater leverage, with its intelligent functionality simply re-calculating the amount of torque required.

Torque which is used in critical industries such as offshore and oil, gas, aerospace, defence, construction, wind power maintenance and many others allows professional users performing critical tasks to see and record measurements of turning force in greater detail and with more accuracy than ever before. Accurate turning force is critical because nuts and bolts may fail when tested under extreme conditions if they are not tightened properly.

As well as the LED indicator lights, an audible beep and handle vibration alert the user when target torque is achieved and  the rugged all-steel construction is designed to stand-up to even the toughest work conditions.  Control-Tech Industrial Torque Wrenches are available with a 3/8 inch or ½ inch drive flex head or an interchangeable head – all with an easy-to-use software solution and highly programmable features.

Eric Bright, Product Manager at Snap-on Industrial comments:

“Torque is absolutely crucial to safety and performance. If it goes wrong on a train, plane, car or boat, for example, it can be potentially life threatening as it determines how fast something can accelerate safely without the nuts and bolts coming loose due to the vibrations caused by movement.

“Steel nuts and bolts are slightly elastic and will stretch a few thousandths of an inch when being tightened.  It’s this stretching that allows the bolt or nut to hold fast when clamped together, so that if you stretch a bolt too much or not enough, that stretching force won’t be operating at its optimum and may ultimately fail.  Quality torque wrenches are essential for tightening accurately and safely.

“Modern materials, higher performance, less weight, quicker turnaround times and quality products of high value coming off of a factory or repair centre all require accurate torque. If something isn’t the correct torque it can be potentially dangerous, and will cost money while it is being repaired and is out of commission.”
