Massage Envy Spa Cedar Hill: County’s High Point is High Point for Owners

DALLAS - Aug. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- CEDAR HILL, TEXAS (July 31, 2013)…When Christina and Derek Michels say they’ve come a long way, it could mean one of two things. Both are natives of Canada who moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area when Derek was relocated by his company. “I’ve been watching the business model for the past 10 years and fell in love with its success,” Tina explains. “I finally was talked into opening our own business by my husband, and we thought Massage Envy was the perfect progression in my career.”

Massage Therapy has been part of Tina’s life for the last 10 years as she worked as a Lead Massage Therapist, Spa Director, Massage Therapy Instructor and Massage Therapy Program Director. She attended St. Clair College of Nursing and Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, graduating with over 2500 hours of medical and orthopedic massage training which is five times the Texas standard for massage training.

Derek is currently Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a consumer products company. He has a degree in Human Kinetics with honors in Sports Management. Together, he and Tina – the parents of two young sons – bring a well-rounded foundation to the newest Massage Envy Spa.

“Tina has a different perspective than many new owners because she’s had 10 years experience in the massage therapy profession,” says Lance O'Pry, Dallas/Fort Worth regional developer for Massage Envy Spas. “Cedar Hill and Southwest Dallas County have seen a lot of growth, and we’re happy Tina and Derek are bringing Massage Envy Spa to a new area.”

It’s also bringing jobs. The Cedar Hill location will offer all of Massage Envy Spa’s massage and facial services. The spa has a total of 15 rooms – two Spa rooms for facials and 13 massage rooms, including two couples/dual purpose rooms. Tina hopes to have 6-8 front office staff and 15-20 licensed massage therapists and licensed estheticians.

“We’re hiring for all positions!” she exclaims. “Licensed massage therapists, licensed estheticians and cosmetologists, junior clinic administrators, assistant clinic administrators and front desk associates (wellness coordinators). We’re planning a soft opening in late July, with a grand opening in August.”

Tina serves on the Arthritis Foundation representing Massage Envy Spa, a national sponsor of the Arthritis Foundation. “We love giving back to the community and doing outreach,” she says. “It will be a major part of how we get involved in the Cedar Hill community.”

As the opening draws closer, Tina is in her element. “I love coaching and teaching employees to be the best they can be. I want to give back to the massage industry, sharing the education I was blessed to learn in Canada.”

“Mentoring employees, having the best trained staff in DFW…Massage Envy is an amazing culture and team environment to work in. I started as a massage therapist but have worked my way to owning a franchise. I’m hoping I can be an inspiration to massage therapists everywhere – to pursue their dreams of owning their own business one day,” she adds.

At Massage Envy, an introductory one-hour massage session (a 50-minute massage and time for consultation and dressing) is just $49 and a one-hour Healthy Skin facial session at $59. Memberships are available for $59 per month and include a one-hour massage session. Members can enjoy unlimited additional one-hour massage sessions at the $39 member rate or a one-hour Healthy Skin facial session for $49.

DFW Massage Envy Spas join forces with the Arthritis Foundation to host Healing Hands for Arthritis, a one-day national event to build awareness and raise funds to fight arthritis. On September 18, 2013, every Massage Envy Spa including the 32 Dallas/Fort Worth Massage Envy Spas will donate $10 from every one-hour massage session or facial to the Arthritis Foundation.
