Harrisburg resident campaigns hard to perform off-Broadway

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Aug. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Harrisburg-based actress and singer Nicole Renee Thomas has launched a campaign through the crowdfunding network “GoFundMe.com,” an online resource that allows individuals to obtain funding through the kindness of others. In Nicole’s case, the campaign would assist her in travel expenses to and from New York, where she’s currently in rehearsals for the stage production “Jaded The Musical,” alongside actress, writer, director Hillary Hawkins (Are You Afraid of the Dark?; Nick Jr’s Play Along).

The experience is both humbling and exciting all at the same time. Nicole explains:

“I never dreamed I would snag the role…I only went to the audition for the excitement of auditioning for the role.”

Having put her own goals behind her over the past several years, the wife and mother of three decided to do something different this summer: chase her own dreams for a change.

“I have the support of my family, so that makes it a pleasant experience,” she says. “But I hadn’t really thought that I’d actually land the role.”

Hence, the campaign. The “GoFundMe project” will continue throughout the run of the stage production. Jaded The Musical will open on August 17^th, and run for two weeks as part of the 2013 UnFringed Festival at the Secret Theatre in Long Island City, NY. In addition to Jaded The Musical, Nicole Renee Thomas has appeared in the stage productions Anything Goes; Dreamgirls; Godspell; Nunsense; Once On This Island; and many more.
