Encino, CA (August 1, 2013) – California’ With the ever popular X Games leaving Southern California after August 4th for good, LoanMart wanted to have a big presence on track and off track at the four day motorsports spectacular. With LoanMart already being the Official Lender of the Irwindale Event Center which is the home of the Global Rally Cross, Big Air and GYMKHANA Events, the addition of DeJong is a perfect fit. The 15 year old phenom is coming off a 2012 TORC Series Pro-Buggy Championship as well as Rookie of the Year honor. The Temecula native, DeJong has been racing for ten years with Championships at every level in his young career. X Games Los Angeles is a homecoming for DeJong as well, as the Global Rally Cross schedule makes the events at Irwindale Events Center a short 70 miles drive from his home in Riverside County. When asked about the return to his home track, DeJong said: “I used to race US Legend Cars at Irwindale so I’m really excited to be going back. I've wanted to race in X Games since Rally Cross made its debut, so it seems surreal that it's actually happening.” This is the rookie campaign for Mitchell DeJong in the Ford Rally Cross Lites with already a fourth place finish in New Hampshire, the goal is to podium in front of the home town crowd of family and friends. Mitchell says, “The Olsbergs lites rallycross car is the most fun vehicle I've driven and completely different. There's a bit of a learning curve, the driving technique is completely opposite of what we're used to in short course off road vehicles.” LoanMart Marketing Director Colby Estes announced the signing of Mitchell DeJong July 31st and was quoted as saying, “We at LoanMart want to be a powerhouse in the motorsports world, and having a young driver in DeJong on board is a win win for us. He is a local driver and he is going to represent LoanMart at its official racing home in LA. About Global Rally Cross Lites Series: Built by top rallycross preparer OlsbergsMSE, the Lites produce 310 HP, just over half the power of the top Supercar vehicles and are designed to be more manageable for developing star drivers. The cars are purpose-built racers that are fast, nimble, and exciting to watch. They are all-wheel drive and capable of handling the jumps, door-to-door combat and surface changes of a typical rallycross course.
