"Spiritual" Comedian Wins Mainstream Comedy Award

SAN FRANCISCO - Aug. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- The SF Weekly has announced the winner of the recent SF Weekly Best of the Bay Reader’s Poll Award for "Best Comedian 2013": Alicia Dattner.

Alicia is the creator of several critically-acclaimed, award-winning one-woman shows which have toured internationally, including The Oy of Sex (http://theoyofsex.com) and the hit show Eat, Pray, Laugh! (http://aliciadattner.com). She's also won "Best Storyteller" in the NY United Solo Festival, "Best of the Fringe" in the SF Fringe Festival, "Best Comedian″ in the East Bay Express Reader's Poll.

Alicia graduated from Hampshire College with a degree in standup comedy (no kidding!) and was mentored by talented comedians over the years, including Eugene Mirman (Flight of the Conchords), W. Kamau Bell (Totally Biased, FX, HBO), and Bill Santiago (Comedy Central, CNN). She's been knocking audiences out at clubs like The Improv and Gotham Comedy Club, in San Francisco, New York, Hollywood, Bombay, Chennai, and London.

She's now bringing together comedians with a sense of spirituality and spiritual teachers with a sense of humor in the world's first and is the producer of the first ever Spiritual Comedy Festival (http://spiritualcomedyfestival.com).
