Texas BBQ Cook-Off Series Projects Record Payout of Over $100,000

Aug. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- In a continued effort to provide a better BBQ experience for everyone from the most die-hard of competition cookers to the ever-growing army of back yard grillers, WESTERN Premium BBQ Products will host the WESTERN W3 BBQ Cook-Off Series. The Series will consist of three BBQ cook-offs, sanctioned by the International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA) and linked together by a point accumulation system (points chase).  

The big news is that each cook-off is projected to pay out $35,000 plus additional prizes. Further, the team earning the most points in the series will become the WESTERN W3 Grand Champion and will win $5000.  The second highest point-earning team in the series (Reserve Grand Champion) will win $1000 and the highest point-earning team in each meat category in the series will each win $500.  This will create a total projected payout for the entire WESTERN W3 BBQ Cook-Off Series of at least $100,000.

The series will kick off in the historic community of New Braunfels, Texas at Gruene Harley-Davidson on November 22-23, 2013.  The second event will take place the last weekend of January 2014 on the 24th and 25th in the city of Helotes, Texas.  The series will wrap up on the weekend of WESTERN’s birthday in their hometown of Pleasanton, Texas, March 21-22, 2014 when the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce hosts Turn-N-Burn.

We believe a well-executed series of events paying out huge dollars accomplishes that.”

“WESTERN totally rocked Turn-N-Burn this year with $34,200 plus prizes,” states Wade McBee, owner of McBee’s BBQ Restaurant and Chair of Pleasanton’s Turn-N-Burn Cook Off.  “I can only imagine how much better this event will be and what this series will do for Texas BBQ,”

At each of the three events, the categories for competition will include beef brisket, pork spare ribs and chicken halves.  This series boasts a 100% payout for all entry money collected plus additional prizes to be given away during each event. Prize money will be given to first through tenth places in the three categories at each cook-off.  Series points will be earned by teams as their entries advance through judging rounds.  The team with the most points at the end of the series wins. Teams do not have to participate in all three events, although they will have a better chance of winning the series and the additional prize money if they do.
