PRLog -- SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, August 1, 2013 — Presenting new Dodecaphonic Tonal sets, Dr. Joseph M. Krush leads readers through Expanded Diatonicism, the Octatonic Minor Scale, then Nonaphonic and Decaphonic Bi-Modality, and culminating with the description of “The World’
s Best Dodecaphonic Tonal Set” in his new book, Dodecaphonic Tonality. He illustrates the new concept of Semi-Modulation through Rotating Quintcircles. Relative Compatibility of Keys and Chromatic Clashes of so-called “sensitive/
assertive tones”
are also explored. Composers will benefit from this groundbreaking new system.
“The project started six years ago with a very modest goal,”
says Krush, a retired music theorist. “I just wanted to find the best answer to one simple question: ‘
What kind of a tonal system would result if we combined the major and minor modes into one, fused major/minor key?’ The ultimate answer was: Uni-tonal Nonaphonic Bi-Modality, and Part One of the book was completed.”
It didn’t end there, though. “More ideas came,”
Krush says, “and these led to the definition of 10-tone, 11-tone, and 12-tone tonal systems, which are either bi-tonal, or tri-tonal, or polytonal.”
By the time he’d finished, the completed book totaled 248 pages. Set up in two parts, the book contains 25 chapters and almost 200 musical examples.
“In the future, I plan to create a related website and present some of the chapters in video format,”
Krush says.
