TAUNTON, U.K. - July 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Hosted at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre in Taunton – winner of the 2012 Albert Goodman Family Business of the Year Award – sponsors and previous winners gave 40 of the region’s business people an insight into their personal experiences and expert tips for entering and making the most of the Somerset Business Awards.

Taking the helm, Paul Hake, Head of Family Business and a Partner at Albert Goodman, said, “We want to encourage all businesses in Somerset to enter the Somerset Business Awards, to reap the benefits of being an award winning business.

“A recent study from the British Quality Foundation states, on average, award winning businesses see a 63 per cent increase in income and a 39 per cent growth in sales compared to non-winners. This is true for the long term too, as over three years these businesses experienced growth in sales by an average of 77 per cent more and operating income by 18 per cent more.”

Blackdown Shepherd Huts and Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre have both experienced huge successes since winning a Somerset Business Award last year and provided inspirational real-life examples case studies.

George Bannister, co-founder of Blackdown Shepherd Huts, said, “As a young business, winning the New Business of the Year award last year transformed our business and has given us a massive push in the right direction. We have increased our turnover four-fold since the award win. From our point of view, the additional credibility our Somerset Business Award has given us has helped us to improve our business dramatically and we are sure it will do the same for other businesses.”

The Somerset Business Awards are open for entries and officially close on 30 August 2013 at 17:00. Shortlisted businesses will be invited to a glittering black tie event on 24 October 2013 at the newly refurbished, Westlands Conference and Leisure Complex in Yeovil.

Albert Goodman is the proud main sponsor of the Somerset Business Awards, for the third consecutive year and is delighted to be sponsoring the Albert Goodman Family Business of the Year award. There are 13 other award categories, which are sponsored by a range of vibrant businesses in Somerset.

Albert Goodman has offices across the region including Taunton, Chard, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Weston-super-Mare and Weymouth. For further information, visit www.albertgoodman.co.uk.
