Controversial book republished after 48 years

LONDON - Aug. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- VENATRIX is thrilled to announce the publication of The Seventh Season, a remarkable adventure story that was withdrawn from bookshops on its original publication in 1965. Deemed controversial because of its Christian content, this incredible story – which includes an eyewitness account of the mission of St Andrew – is finally available again for both scholars, believers and fans of historical epics.

Translated from the Aksum scrolls, The Seventh Season tells the story of St Andrew’s flight to Greece from persecution by Roman forces in Judaea in 67AD. Hidden from view for nearly 50 years, The Seventh Season has come to light following the death of the original text’s translator. Kit Hudson – an amateur scholar and archaeologist – left his literary estate to his great niece Rosalind James who had no idea of his controversial past until she was contacted by the executor of Kit’s will. “I received a box of Kit’s work and the first thing I found was a note that said ‘Some secrets are meant to be told…’ Beneath the note was Kit’s original typescript of The Seventh Season,” recalls Rosalind. “At first I didn’t know the significance of the work, but as soon as I had finished reading, I was determined to get it back into print.”

St Andrew is only a minor – if pivotal – character in the events of The Seventh Season which highlight the early Church’s battles with Roman authorities. Narrated by St Andrew’s scribe, Johanan, it follows the Apostle’s voyage from Caesarea (in modern Israel) to Greece where he was crucified by the Roman proconsul Aegeates in Patras. Following Andrew’s death, Johanan recalls his struggle to keep the Word of his master alive. As well as extraordinary insights into the mission of one of the Apostles, other highlights of The Seventh Season include an eyewitness account of the Emperor Nero’s tour of Greece and a visit to Olympia during the Games.
