Kildare wholesaler turns to crowdfunding

July 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Kildare businessman Eddie Kinsella is expanding his business, Emerald Aquatics Wholesale Distributors Ltd, and he's letting the crowd invest.

Not only offering 10% of his company for €25,000, he's also offering extra discount to potential customers who choose to invest. Eddie has pitched his business on the new crowdfunding platform MoneyCrowd.org. Asked why he went the crowdfunding route, Eddie gave one reason in particular.

"I really liked the idea that some of the investors could potentially be my most loyal customers. They would feel like they are buying from themselves in a way, why would they buy from anywhere else. Also, this would ensure that I receive quick, reliable and honest feedback on all aspects of the business as it would be in my customers interest."

Emerald Aquatics was formed in 2012. Before Emerald Aquatics there was no dedicated fish importer and exporter in the Republic of Ireland. Currently many retailers rely on UK & European based importers to relay stock to retailers in the lucrative Irish market. This has led to the quality of available stock being substantially lower than those available in neighboring markets.

"We've gone to exhaustive efforts to build up connections and an excellent working relationships with premier fish export companies on three continents. We are the sole European importer of the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place award winning breeds in Asia. We currently supply to 35 stores across the country. Our future is in quality and with 650 pet stores in Ireland we feel we have a bright future"
