SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. - July 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Almost a century ago, the founding business members of the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, was instrumental in bringing businesses to the region to develop homes, hotels, transportation and service industries. As the organization begins it’s next 100 years, it will call to the current business leadership to assemble a plan to create a sustainable economy for the region. The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce members, will play a vital role in the input of this two year research plan, which will begin in August 2013, with the official roll out of “Counting Down to A Century of Service” Celebrations which will include regional spotlights on business districts coordinated with Barnegat Chamber, Lacey Chamber, Tuckerton Seaport and Stafford Businesses, which will lead to the “Centennial Summer” Spotlights on LBI.

The Regional Business Development Plan will be designed with the Ocean County Master Plan in mind. The Business Leadership Council seats are filled  with defined business district representatives, state liaisons and business advisory positions with a goal to stimulate new interest, light industry and corporate sectors resulting in job creation, home property value stability and smart repurposing of vacant commercial buildings. This will provide the region’s independent businesses, non profit organizations, and tourism a chance to thrive with increased opportunities from an enhanced workforce and corporate patronage. For a broader prospective, Southern Ocean County Chamber has already shared the plan outline with Patrick Kenny, International Trade specialist in the US Department of Commerce, Minister for Commerical Affairs in Ottawa Richard Steffens and  District 9 legislators.

Quarterly updates, releases, public forums and announcements will be made throughout the next twenty four months, leading to the release of plan findings. After the plan is released, the Southern Ocean Chamber will then restructure the Business Development Plan Council to a Business Leadership Council to execute and advance the findings leading to 2020 results.
