DENVER - July 29, 2013 - PRLog -- DENVER — July 29, 2013 — In many ways, sewing projects like quilts were always “crowd sourced” through activities like quilting bees. Now, an entrepreneur is crowd sourcing what she believes will be the Rocky Mountain region’s premier sewing store.

“Sewing is an American tradition and the fastest growing demographic carrying this tradition forward today is women in their 30s,” said Elizabeth Axthelm, who has launched a fundraising campaign on RocketHub to open Sew Sister, a world-class retail outlet to serve the sewing community of Colorado and surrounding states.

The Sew Sister retail outlet will be located in Denver and feature more than 10,000 bolts of high-quality fabric, expert staff and classes for all levels of skill and scope of projects. Additionally, the store will feature two long arm sewing machines, something currently not available for consumer use in Colorado or surrounding states.

“The model has worked in many areas in the U.S., and we've identified a real need here in Colorado and in the surrounding states,” said Axthelm. Current plans call for one store in the Denver Metro area, but market research shows sufficient interest to eventually support a second store serving other areas.

Axthelm believes that much of the fabric sold today at large retail outlets isn't the quality desired for the time and effort it takes to make clothes, quilts or other items. These items can become hand-stitched heirlooms, but poor quality fabric can cause them to wear too quickly, and certainly not last for generations.

The goal for the RocketHub campaign is $200,000, which will provide capital for the first retail location. Contributors will receive their choice of a variety of benefits and discounts from the new store for their support.
