Flood Warnings Call for Prevention & Protection Equipment from DENIOS

By: DENIOS

July 29, 2013 - PRLog -- As the heat wave comes to an end and heavy rain is forecast across many parts of the UK, The Met Office has increased its weather warning level to "amber", the second of three levels, urging residents in the Midlands and north of England to be prepared for storms likely to cause flooding and disruption.

Some 5.2 million properties are at risk of flooding in England and annual flood damage costs are in the region of £1.1 billion. Despite efforts to improve and strengthen community flood defence schemes, many homes and businesses remain vulnerable and although it is impossible to completely flood-proof a property a number of measures can be taken to prevent flood-water getting in and limit the damage.

There are many routes in which floodwater can enter a property. As well as coming through doors and patios, water can find its way in through air bricks on exposed walls and through gaps in the floor. Another way is via drains and pipes as the pressure created by flooding can reverse the flow, causing water to back-up and enter a home through sinks, toilets, washing machines etc.

The traditional methods of using sandbags to prevent or limit the amount of water entering your property can help for short periods but they do allow water to seep through and are not as effective as purpose-designed flood products. DENIOS UK offer a range of products that are designed to offer protection against flooding, including;
•         Spill barriers for quick locking and blocking of doors and gates to stop water from seeping through gaps in external doors
•         Mobile door or gate seal made of high strength polyethylene complete with wall cabinet for storage on site
•         Absorbent mats, pillows, booms and granules to absorb any ingress of water

It is impossible to guarantee that flood-water will not enter your property but taking steps to protect your property will limit the distress and damage caused by flooding, reduce the level of repairs and will allow you to return to your home or business more quickly.
