Industry Report Reveals the Next Generation of Efficiency Wins through Shared Services & Outsourcing

• Deutsche Post DHL adds value to the business through large-scale GBS • National Rail Enquiries successfully manages relationships with more than 100 vendors • Covidien focusses on staff retention in shared services to drive efficiency

July 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Ahead of the Shared Services & Outsourcing Exchange, IQPC Exchange has conducted a series of in-depth interviews with directors from Deutsche Post DHL, Avis Budget Group, ICICI Prudential life Insurance and more to discover how shared services and outsourcing decision makers are cutting costs and adding value to the wider business, plus what they believe is currently missing from vendor offerings. The Shared Services & Outsourcing Exchange also conducted research among its network of decision-maker level executives to discover what they are planning to invest in over the next twelve months and what they believe the future holds for the shared services and outsourcing industry. The full report can be accessed at: http://www.sharedservicesexchange.co.uk/redForms.aspx?eventid=7081&id=389080&FormID=%2011&frmType=Additional%20Content&m=8330&FrmBypass=False&mLoc=F&SponsorOpt=False&utm_campaign=11323.008_PR_F&utm_medium=web&utm_source=press release&utm_content=text&utm_term=eBook&MAC=11323.008_FPR.

The research reveals that creating centres of excellence and benchmarking & metrics are at the top of the agenda for approximately 60% of respondents.

A Senior Executive of Corporate HR at international law firm DLA Piper predicts that “Whilst the economic climate should promote a direction towards shared service and outsourcing operations, the tendency may be to baton down and minimise business change – the type of change needed to implement a SS or OS solution”. He goes on to explain there is a perpetual challenge of “quality/ value gain vs. cost challenge of implementation.”

For the Head of Group Shared Services of Standard Bank, South Africa,  “The focus on Africa as a new BPO centre servicing Africa and supporting Africa’s strive to compete in the Global economy” is one thing he is focussing on over the next few years.

The Director of Research at the Shared Services & Outsourcing Exchange, Ailsa Hardy, explains just how tough it is for these executives: “Shared services and outsourcing leaders have been so successful in cutting costs over the past two to three years that now it is harder than ever to find the next cost saving initiative. This has caused many to look to less-traditional processes to see if they can move them into a shared services centre or outsourcing provider to add more value to the wider business: procurement is a prime example of this trend.”
