New Mexico MEP Launches “New Mexico Made” Program for State Manufacturers

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - July 29, 2013 - PRLog -- ALBUQUERQUE, NM – New Mexico Manufacturing Extension Program (MEP) (http://newmexicomep.org/) announced today the creation of a New Mexico Made program (http://newmexicomep.org/nmmade/) for state manufacturers. The goal of the program is to feature the products made in The Land of Enchantment and convey the contributions of the manufacturing community to the public. The program additionally provides social media forums for manufacturers to network and discuss industry topics.

“New Mexico’s manufacturers are vital to our state’s economic growth and account for over 7.4 percent of the state’s total output. There are an estimated 1,500 manufacturers in our state representing almost 30,000 workers,” says Ron Burke, Center Director of New Mexico MEP.

New Mexico MEP now dedicates a portion of its website to the New Mexico Made program and has started an online directory for manufacturers to showcase their products. State manufacturers cansign up for free to get a company profile page where they can share their logo, description, contact information, company news and pictures or videos of their products.

“Many of our state’s manufacturers do not have a website or strong online presence. This is an easy way for them to get a mini-website that generates new business, all at no cost,” says Burke.

As part of the program, participants also receive an official New Mexico Made certificate to display in their facilities and the program logo to exhibit on their websites.

New Mexico MEP will also be launching a special Featured Manufacturer of the Week aspect of the program. The Featured Manufacturer of the Week will be prominently displayed on the program directory as well as the newly launched New Mexico Made LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook pages.

The organization will also be encouraging participants to utilize the New Mexico Made LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter platforms to network, ask questions and share ideas on how to become more productive, efficient and innovative.

“New Mexico’s individuals and businesses can make a significant impact on our economy by purchasing products and parts made in our state, and the directory enables them to do so. We are proud to launch this initiative because we can stimulate growth by raising awareness about New Mexico’s manufacturers and their goods,” adds Burke.

New Mexico MEP is a private, nonprofit organization that helps manufacturers become more productive, efficient and globally competitive. The organization is as an affiliate under the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) MEP. The creation of the program also supports the “Make it in America” program at the national level through NIST MEP. New Mexico joins state MEP affiliates in locations such as California, Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee and New Jersey in launching a “Made in your State” program, an initiative originally created by inbound marketing firm Grass Roots Marketing, Inc (http://www.grmwebsite.com/).
