July 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Country house hotel Rudby Hall is closer to opening its doors after Hambleton District Council grant approval to vary a catering condition of its original planning permission.

The elegant Grade II* listed property in Skutterskelfe, situated between Hutton Rudby and Stokesley, is anticipated to open in early 2014 as a luxury hotel and exclusive wedding and function venue following Hambleton District Council’s decision.

Members of the council’s planning committee approved the application, in agreement with the planning officer’s recommendation, to vary a condition of the original proposal granted in July 2012.

The planning permission now grants the use of the existing kitchen facilities to prepare food for guests attending functions at the hotel and within the grounds.

At the planning meeting on Thursday (July 18th) at the Civic Centre in Northallerton Wendy Desiles, general manager of Rudby Hall, welcomed the decision: “We are delighted by the committee’s conclusion and for the exciting months that lie ahead for Rudby Hall.

“This decision means that we can now start to plan the official opening of the luxury hall and provisionally take bookings for accommodation and exclusive functions.  We look forward to unveiling the hall, for the first time in its 180 year history, to the public later this year and sharing a glass of champagne to toast its future.

“We would like to thank members of the public including local businesses and suppliers, as well as couples who have already declared an interest to get married at Rudby Hall for all of their letters of support and well wishes.  We have been overwhelmed by the level of support and interest; it is a true testament to the listed building and the importance of preserving it in its full glory for years to come.”

More than £250,000 is anticipated to be spent by developers Python Properties, which is leading the conservation and development project, of the 13-bedroom hall.

It is also expected to create up to 23 jobs as well as lead to local economic benefits once open to the public.

Built in 1838 for the daughter of King William IV Amelia Cary and her husband the 10th Viscount Falkland, Rudby Hall is a former royal residence.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside and located on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, Rudby Hall will provide the perfect private setting for weddings, civil marriages and civil partnership ceremonies, family celebrations, business meetings, corporate events, team building, shoot party accommodation and private functions.
