ZURICH - July 29, 2013 - PRLog -- MapsWithMe provides offline maps for iOS and Android devices based on open source map data (OpenStreetMap). A number of new features has been added to the application during the last six months: bookmark groups import/export, bookmarks sharing by sms, additional information about POI etc.

The main advantage of MapsWithMe is in unique technology of data compression which makes the size of map files impressively small with the highest level of detail provided. For example, the full detailed map of Switzerland is just 69MB, while the Brazil map is of 74MB. As a result, it allows downloading a map of an entire country, maps are downloaded fast, zooming in and out is very smooth and, what is not less important, phone’s memory usage is very frugal.

The developers are focused very much on map rendering speed. It has grown by 20% on average, and up to 200% for some Android devices during. Also the API has been released, and now third-party developers can use MapsWithMe offline maps within their applications.

MapsWithMe apps are available in all major app stores (App Store, Google Play, Amazon Appstore, Samsung Apps, and others) and its user base is constantly growing.
