USCG Turns 223 years Old This August 4th and Vision-Strike-Wear.Com Is Celebrating With Them!

WASHINGTON - July 27, 2013 - PRLog -- When one of our United States branches celebrates its birthday it is an occassion for respect, recollection and honor and with the celebration of the United States Coast Guard and its 223rd Birthday comes a time to recognize the men and women of the USCG.

The Coast Guard will be celebrating its 223rd year on August 4th. The Coast Guard is one of America's five armed forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and United States Coast Guard) and can trace its founding to August 4th, 1790, when the first Congress authorized the building of ten naval vessels to enforce and ensure certain responsibilities to include tariff and trade laws, prevent smuggling, and protect the collection of federal revenue. The USCG and its role have increased substantially over the years including humanitarian duties such as aiding mariners in distress.

The USCG service received its current name in 1915 when the Revenue Cutter Service merged with the U.S. Life-Saving Service to form a single maritime service dedicated to the safety of life at sea and enforcing the nation's maritime laws. This the USCG has done faithfully ever since.

The United Sattes Coast Guard is a multi-mission, maritime, military service and the smallest of the five Armed Services. However, even smallin size it has many unique things about to include arresting authoirty for both military and civilians alike. Its overall mission is to protect the public, the environment and U.S. economic interests in the nation's waterways, along the coast, on international waters, or in any maritime region as required to support national security. The United States Coast Guard and its slogan "Semper Paratus" has been a solid military branchboth in times of war and at peace and has served the interests of the United Satets faithfully since its creation.
