New BBQ Rub and Borvo Blend Hit The MarketAuthentic Kansas City Rub, a dry rub for meat, makes it's debut at the Eugene Saturday Market, in Eugene, Oregon. Earth & Sea Salts, makers of gourmet sea salt blends, also introduces the Borvo Blend.
By: PurposeWorks The BBQ Rub (Kansas City Rub) is a dry meat rub, perfect to use when smoking beef, chicken, pork or fish! It can also be used in the oven. The Kansas City Rub is a dry rub for meat which is also very versatile in that it works on any type of meat and fish. Brigitte said, “When I was a kid living in Kansas City, MO, my father worked at a smokehouse. This is the meat rub recipe they used, and I grew up with pork ribs and brisket smoked with this rub. It is a bit spicy and is the real deal! It brings me great joy to present this blast from my past, from the heart of the Midwest and from my heart too.” Named after Borvo, the Celtic god of minerals, the Borvo Blend combines four different salts that are very rich in minerals: Celtic Sea Salt®, Himalayan pink salt, red alaea salt and black lava salt. Celtic Sea Salt®is harvested near the northwestern coast of France using a gentle method of harvesting which preserves the integrtiy of healthy minerals and trace elements naturally found in the salt. Himalayan pink salt is hand mined from the pristine Himalayan mountains and is considered to be one of the purest salts available (contains 84 trace elements and iron). Red alaea salt is a traditional salt from the Hawaiian Islands. It is solar dried and mixed with red alaea volcanic clay which gives it a smooth flavor (rich in iron oxides). Black lava salt is a revered salt from the Polynesian Islands and contains very high levels of minerals. It is infused in activated charcoal which helps your body to detoxify toxins. Foodies can use the Borvo Blend for any culinary purpose, but Brigitte thinks the diverse flavor profile and color palette of this blend make it excellent as a finishing salt.
