US Army Europe Band's Grey Cafe to Perform at Mom2Mom World Breastfeeding Week Open House!

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany - July 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Mom2Mom KMC (http://www.mom2momkmc.org) is thrilled to announce the USAREUR Band (http://www.music.army.mil/organizations/pages/default.asp?unit=33AB)’s 5-person combo Grey Cafe will be providing music at the World Breastfeeding Week (http://www.worldbreastfeedingweek.org) Open House on Saturday, August 3 from 9:30-12:00 at Donnelly Park on Ramstein Air Base.  Band member SSG Sammy Lewis describes the combo this way: "Grey Café is a cover band full of energy providing live entertainment of songs that you hear on the radio today. This band’s show will get you off of your feet dancing and enjoying different variations of Rock, Pop, and R&B from the 90’s all the way to the current music of today. With talented musicians and vocalists Grey Café will give you a double shot of espresso that you will be sure not to forget."

"The USAREUR Band and Chorus's number one mission focus is troop and family support," says SGT Kailin Eskander, from the band's Operations office. "We do a lot of troop support playing downrange and at change of command ceremonies. Although we often see children at our school performances, it's rare for us to have the opportunity to include spouses. This event is a great way for the band to support the whole military family with special emphasis on mothers." Mom2Mom KMC's mission includes breastfeeding peer support for Active Duty mothers, who often face unique challenges.

Amy Smolinski, Community Outreach Director for Mom2Mom KMC, is enthusiastic about the band's involvement. "This is a tremendous addition to our event. The USAREUR Band is military performance at its finest, and we are thrilled to have them. Their participation is a great example of how breastfeeding truly is a community-wide culture. Each year, we have welcomed more participants to our Open House from command-sponsored groups like the Band to local private organizations like support groups for parents."

In addition to live entertainment, the Open House also features a Community Informational Fair, with tables featuring WIC-Overseas, New Parent Support Programs, and private organizations such as MOPS, MOMSClub, KMC Doulas, Cloth-Diapering in the KMC, Mommy and Me Fitness KMC, and Single Parent Support Group KMC.

Rounding out participation from the Military Treatment Facilities is Beth Eastman, PNP, IBCLC. As the primary International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) for Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Ms. Eastman is a vital resource, helping mothers and babies overcome complex or medical obstacles in order to breastfeed successfully. This year, Ms. Eastman is serving as the Official Timekeeper for the Big Latch On, an annual attempt to set a new world record for most simultaneous breastfeeding. And thanks to Grey Cafe, she'll have an official drumroll to back her up.
