Started 16 years ago in Bonita Springs, Florida, the company is owned by Phelan Holdings and led by company Founder, Tony Phelan and his son and Founder / Director of Operations, Grant Phelan. They serve only the freshest seafood, direct from Gulf waters via their pick house, Island Crab Company in Pine Island, Florida.
Pinchers Crab Shack is a story of overcoming challenges, the realization of the American dream and a story they hope to expand in Key West. When Grant was just 19 years old, Tony was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer. Faced with a life-threatening diagnosis, Tony made the bold decision to create something that would outlive him – Pinchers Crab Shack. He signed the lease on a small location in Bonita Springs and asked Grant to partner with him when he came home for summer break from college at Cornell University.
After many long days, lots of sweat and hard work the family has expanded to nearly 10 locations throughout Southwest Florida and has its sights set on more locations throughout the state. Excited to be part of the fabric of the Key West community, Pinchers Crab Shack has already participated in the Taste of Key West and other Key West Chamber events.
