Names Robbyn Ackner as Chair of the RIVER OF GRASS GALA 2013

This Year’s Annual Gala Will Celebrate the Marshall Foundation’s 15th Anniversary



(West Palm Beach, FL – July 22, 2013)  Nancy Marshall, president of the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation for the Everglades & Florida Environmental Institute, today announced that Robbyn Ackner of West Palm Beach has been named Chair of this year’s River of Grass Gala.

Two couples – John & Nancy Marshall and Matthew & Thais Piotrowski – are serving as Honorary Chairs for the upcoming gala that will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Marshall Foundation, which champions the restoration and preservation of the greater Everglades ecosystem.

The River of Grass Gala 2013 will be held on Saturday, December 14, at The Colony Hotel Pavilion, 155 Hammon Avenue in Palm Beach.

The members of this year’s River of Grass Gala planning committee include Amy Bernard, Erik Brown, Veronica Brown, Fredda Butowsky, Sally Byrd, Lois Cahill, Jimmy Cates, Yu Ling Cui, Norman Gitzen, Jaimie Goodman, Ashley Greenberg, Beate Hambster, Kim Hanson, Bobbi Horwich, Haylee Kaye, Bonnie Lazar, Denise Mariani, Nancy Marshall, Barbara McDonald, Thais Piotrowski, Michele Poole, Bernadette Shalhoub, Paul Suschak, Karen Vaughn, Phyllis Verducci, Kelly Wagner, Linda Wartow, Elaine Weber, Gisele Weisman, Jody White and Barbara Wilkinson.

“We are overjoyed that our valued friends and supporters have generously agreed to play leading roles in this important annual event,” said Nancy Marshall. “We know that their active involvement – and that of our soon-to-be-announced Ambassadors and Jewels of the Everglades – will ensure that our 8th annual River of Grass Gala will be bigger and better than ever.”

“As always, I am humbled by the number of people who tirelessly volunteer, sponsor and support our annual River of Grass Gala that funds 100 percent of our grassroots environmental projects throughout the year,” she added. “In fact, 100 percent of all funds raised at the Gala goes directly toward educating the next generation about the critical importance of the Everglades, our national treasure, on the entire state of Florida.”
