SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. - July 23, 2013 - PRLog -- With summer temperatures filling the air, an unforgiving 2.3 kilometer street circuit and 34 competitors going for the same narrow real estate, rounds 8 & 9 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland championship provided the Nuremburg fans with some of the best battles in all of sports car racing.

However, the race weekend did not begin as planned. After an uncontrollable mechanical issue during Friday practice, De Phillippi only managed to get a few laps on an unfamiliar track before the qualifying session. As a result, qualifying was when the young American would have to put in the laps needed to rapidly learn the tight street circuit as quickly as possible. At the end of qualifying, De Phillippi put the Roboscan Internet Security (http://www.roboscan.com/) - FÖRCH Racing by Lukas Motorsport car in P11, just 0.4 seconds off of the pole time.

During round 7, De Phillippi continued to show his rapid pace and improvement, all while battling some of the world's best sports car racers. Starting from P11 in round 7, De Phillippi was able to finish in P8. “I’m really happy about finishing my race in eighth. There was a lot going on around me. I constantly had to watch that I wouldn’t be taken out,” commented De Phillippi.

For round 8, De Phillippi had to start in P12 after pushing hard and brushing the wall in qualifying. Much like previous rounds, this did not stop him from charging forward. When all was said and done, De Phillippi jumped five positions, finished P7 and was just 0.2 second off the race winner's best time. With the valuable points earned this weekend, De Phillippi increased his Rookie of the Year points lead and sits P9 in the overall driver's championship.

"This weekend at Norisring started out rough but ended on a pretty good note. We lost the gearbox in practice after only completely three flying laps, so I had to go straight into qualifying with no experience. I managed to do okay in qualifying and then moved forward to grab a 8th and 7th place finish in the two race. Thank you to the team for not giving up during the weekend and we will be ready for Nurburgring. Just need some luck for things to run smoothly the entire weekend and I know we can get the Roboscan Porsche onto the podium."

Next on the schedule is 3.629 kilometer Nurburgring Grand Prix circuit, from 8/16 - 8/18.
