HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - July 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Excitement echoed at the Lyceum Theatre in San Diego when the Feature Documentary “Showrunners” director, Des Doyle, and Black Sheep Productions announced that Submarine Entertainment had acquired US distribution and worldwide sales rights to the feature documentary.  “We’re honored and delighted that Submarine Entertainment has come on board with “Showrunners.”  We think that Submarine is the perfect home for this film and we look forward to working with them in bringing this film to the largest audience possible,” exclaimed Des Doyle.  This announcement was made as part of the "Showrunners" panel on Friday at Comic-Con with TV showrunner-panelists and documentary participants, Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory), Hart Hanson (Bones), and Jane Espenson (Once Upon A Time).

"We are very excited to be working with Des Doyle and the team on their amazing behind the scenes documentary “Showrunners,” which reveals the seductive, yet terrifying, world of being in charge of running a television show," stated Submarine's Co-President, Dan Braun. "The unprecedented access and attention to detail they achieved in this film is impressive and unique."

"Showrunners" is the first ever feature length documentary film to explore the fascinating world of US television showrunners and explores the creative forces aligned around them. “These are the people responsible for creating, writing and overseeing every element of production on one of the United States's biggest exports --television drama and comedy series,” explained Co-Producer, Ryan Patrick McGuffey.  The film intends to show audiences the massive amount of work that goes into ensuring their favorite TV series airs on time, as well as the many challenges that showrunners have to overcome to make sure a new series even makes it onto the schedule at all.

“As filmmakers creating an independent feature documentary, we are grateful to those, like the Irish Film Board, who believed in and supported our project at its earliest inception. We have also been blessed with such a fantastic group of backers on KICKSTARTER,” expressed John Wallace, Producer, during “A Celebration of Showrunners” SDCC Mixer on Thursday night.

This documentary features interviews with JJ Abrams (Lost), Matthew Carnahan (House of Lies), Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus: War of the Damned), Chris Downey (Leverage), Jane Espenson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Hart Hanson (Bones), Mike Kelley (Revenge), Robert and Michelle King (The Good Wife),  Ali LeRoi (Everybody Hates Chris), Damon Lindelof (Lost), Ronald D.
