NORWICH, U.K. - July 23, 2013 - PRLog -- After a month of extreme efforts, the campaign for the Alan Partridge movie Premiere to be in Norwich, Norfolk has worked. So move over Leicester Square, the World Premiere of Alan Partridge’s new £4.5 million movie will be held in Norwich’s Anglia Square.  Founders of the campaign, Rafiq Turnbull, and Rob Wilkes, started the campaign with a Facebook group, which grew to have over 7,000 fans proving just how much “two guys and a bit of social media can do” stated Mr Turnball.

As well as the thousands of people backing the campaign on social media sites, there was a flash mob, outside HMV on Gentlemen’s walk, from a Norwich choir (http://www.invidiavoices.co.uk/), who sang their own Alan Partridge version of Alicia Keys number one hit ‘Empire state of mind’ renaming it to ‘Partridge’s state of mind’.

Protests were also held outside Norwich city hall with fans using the slogan "Anglia Square, not Leicester Square". Alan Partridge campaign merchandise was even produced to increase awareness and make the campaign a success.

The red carpet will be rolled out at the shopping precinct at lunchtime on 24th July, where Norfolk’s favourite fictional radio presenter will meet and greet his fans. Partridge will then proceed to go London bound to attend the Leicester Square premiere.

Mr Turbull and Mr Wilkes are thrilled that the campaign has become a success stating on their Facebook page:

“This amazing day has come to an end and will live long in our memories, we have received lots of thank you's & congratulations today but we would like to thank all of YOU for supporting us.
Without your support and enthusiasm it wouldn't have got noticed by the powers that be.
It all started as a bit of a joke but now it is our time, let’s have a good time and show everyone what Norwich is capable of.”

Along with thousands of fans showing their support for the campaign, Steve Coogan, who plays Partridge was also very loyal to Norwich and the campaign:

"You can imagine how hurt and litigious I felt when people said I was planning to debut my movie in London instead of Norwich, or that I'd allowed my head to be turned by the prospect of big city fame.”
