Alan Partridge campaign merchandise was even produced to increase awareness and make the campaign a success. The red carpet will be rolled out at the shopping precinct at lunchtime on 24th July, where Norfolk’ Mr Turbull and Mr Wilkes are thrilled that the campaign has become a success stating on their Facebook page: “This amazing day has come to an end and will live long in our memories, we have received lots of thank you's & congratulations today but we would like to thank all of YOU for supporting us. Without your support and enthusiasm it wouldn't have got noticed by the powers that be. It all started as a bit of a joke but now it is our time, let’s have a good time and show everyone what Norwich is capable of.” Along with thousands of fans showing their support for the campaign, Steve Coogan, who plays Partridge was also very loyal to Norwich and the campaign: "You can imagine how hurt and litigious I felt when people said I was planning to debut my movie in London instead of Norwich, or that I'd allowed my head to be turned by the prospect of big city fame.” End
