ESSEN, Germany - July 23, 2013 - PRLog -- July 23rd, 2013 – As the need to integrate more welding skilled professionals continues, countries throughout Europe have been investing in national competitions that will ensure the long-term availability of professionals to work at companies and institutes. A number of EWF members has decided to create a European competition on welding, and the WELDCUP is the fulfilment of that goal. The competition will take place at the Welding and Cutting Fair 2013, in Essen, and will have fourteen countries, with more than 20 organizations involved. It is expected a total of more than 50 youngsters participating.

The project will develop and test a common concept for a European welders’ competition, with the aim to reach a wide range of national and international players, interested in participating. Moving forward, the success of this first edition will also be leveraged to educate youngsters on the opportunities on the area, and in such securing the future of the profession.

According to Dorin Dehelean, President of EWF, “The WELDCUP shows how much we have achieved and is a testimony to the ability that we have to address together the challenges of our members. Our expectations are high on the success of this first edition, and we expect that, with future editions, we will be able to certify a growing number of enthusiastic professionals”.

About the Weldcup - http://www.ewf.be/weldcup/index.html

From an initial number of ten countries, the Weldcup has grown to a total of fourteen countries and over twenty organizations who have committed to develop a uniform professional competition directed to young people engaged in welding. The "WELDCUP" aims to reinforce a closer link of VET with working life, of welders with employers. It will be a good opportunity for young people to demonstrate their skills to potential employers and major organisations active in the welding and manufacturing sector.

A consortium with representatives from all of the participating countries has organized the competition's common concept, giving each partner the opportunity to give their specific contribution to the structure and rules of the competition. This will be the basis of the first, common European welding competition "WELDCUP" that is expected to be periodically organised each year, following the conclusion of the Partnership.
