WNBA LA Sparks Teams Up With LA County DCFS To Host The 3rd Annual 'OCAAT' Celebrity Basketball Game

SAN PABLO, Calif. - July 23, 2013 - PRLog -- 2 Games in One Night

Celebrities and fans descended upon the Staples Center on Sunday, June 23, 2013 as the WNBA Los Angeles Sparks teamed up with the Department of Children and Family Services to host the 3^rd Annual “One Child At A Time” Celebrity Basketball Game, a fantastic charity fundraising event to benefit the Children’s Trust Fund.  These funds are earmarked for the DCFS Children’s Trust Fund and scholarships for college-bound foster youth.  

This year’s event which was at 7:30 p.m. immediately following the LA Sparks Game, which was attended by people from all over the Los Angeles area who came to see celebrities’ play basketball at the Sparks basketball court.  The “One Child At A Time” Celebrity Basketball Game was hosted by WNBA Los Angeles Sparks and organized by the “One Child At A Time” Committee.  The Teams consisted of the And 1 All-Stars vs. OCAAT Celebrity Players” and “Yes” the Celebs beat the AND1 live team by one point….

The “One Child At A Time” Celebrity Game started with an opening commencement prayer by the one and only Apostle Hailu (Pastor of Walk with Jesus Cathedral Church to the nation, an arena for miraculous located at 820 Larch Ave. Colton, CA)

This was a wonderful day to give back to the community with hundreds of foster youth, community leaders and many other celebrities who attended this charity event.  Special half time appearances includes Dance Crew from the hit TV Show ABDC; with the opening performance by Christine Devine’s TEAM Wednesday’s Child-with Nexus, Lotis, Sean McNabb along (with the Cast from Sons of Anarchy TV Show) and the Ole Skool Crew, which was followed by the R & B singer Bobby Debarge Jr(from the Debarge family with his father being the lead singer of the group Switch), then the new group Sin City comprise of Malcolm Barrett (from Tyler Perry Movie Peeples) and Brandon Scott, (from the hit TV show Grey’s Anatomy), then Kenton Duty (from Disney “Shake it Up) rocked the stage, followed by Disney's “Pair of Kings” Ryan Ochoa and the Ochoa Boyz, with the finale from (MBA  Artist, AMX that stole the show).  

A host of Actors, Comedians, Singers, Rappers, NFL players, NBA players, WNBA Players and Producers were in attendance including to name a few; Co Owner of the LA Sparks, Lisa Leslie, NFL player, Terrell Owens, Joe Smith, (former NBA Lakers player) Cameron Boyce and Karen Brar, (Disney  Show Jessie), Christian Keyes, (Let’s Stay Together), Brian Hooks, (Eve & Three Strikes), Carlon Jeffery, (Disney Show Ant Farm), Urban Extreme, (Singing Group Make your Mark Shake it up), Xolo Mariduena, (Parenthood), Logan Browning, (Disney Pair of Kings), Elias Washington, (Hope for Love), William Washington, (Real Househusband of Hollywood), Kyle Massey, (That’s So Raven), Marleik Walker II, (Guys with Kids), Jamie Hyder, (True Blood), Heather Crawford,  (Reality Star “Krazy” Flavor of Love Show), Jewell, ( Singer/Voice behind Def Row Records), Kirston Pittman, (D’Jango Unchained), Ernie Singleton, (Producer), Bone Thugs and Harmony, (Rappers), Mellow Man Ace, (Rapper), Cast from the hit shows Sons of Anarchy, Disney’s Ant Farm, Shake it up, Jessie, Pair of Kings and many more .....

This year’s event was organized by and the “One Child At A Time” Committee Members and the WNBA LA Sparks who are: Maria Melton, Josh Andrade, Annette McFarland, Kimi Rochelle, Mykesha Robinson, Lisaette Moore, Lovette Panthier, Lanette Andrews, Rodrick Flowers, Violeta Zepeda, Tosca Broadus, Ray Hardy, Patrice Scott, Candice Brown, Jackie Solomon, Keesee Gregory, Li’Mari Garcia and Lamont Moreno.  

The Founders of this event are, Jackie Solomon, CSA I and Lovette Panthier, SCSW from DCFS since 2007. The co-coordinator of this year’s event was Annette McFarland.  Annette worked with founder Jackie Solomon above and beyond the scope of her duty to put this event together, working all times of the day since January 2013.
