July 22, 2013 - PRLog -- KENT, Wash. – Lapierre, an established, performance-driven mountain and road cycling brand born in France, announces its 2014 mountain bike collection for the North American market, debuting at DealerCamp 2013 (http://www.bikedealercamp.com). Various models comprising the Spicy, Zesty AM, Zesty Trail and XR lines will be available at independent bicycle dealers (IBDs) in North America starting January 2014.

The timing of this launch could not have been timed better with the consistently strong results on Lapierre mountain bikes which have put Lapierre's Gravity Republic team atop the Enduro World Series team ranking after round three with only four races remaining.

“We are excited to see how the line is received in the North American market, especially after witnessing the success Nico Vouilloz has had in the Enduro World Series (http://www.enduroworldseries.com/) on his weapon, the 27.5 Spicy Team,” said Kirk Bausch, Director of Sales and Marketing for Lapierre North America. “North American riders will finally experience firsthand what all the hype is about. These bikes are game-changers; everyone is in for a treat.”

Lapierre was one of the first manufacturers to embrace the mountain bike phenomenon back in the 1980’s. Since then, Lapierre has been at the forefront of mountain bike design and has been pushing the capabilities of bicycles to where they are today. A longtime partnership with 10-time World Cup Downhill Champ and Lapierre Athlete, Nico Vouilloz has played an integral part in the R&D process, providing world-class advice, testing, and feedback toward the design of Lapierre’s mountain bikes.

In addition to the advancements in frame design, Lapierre has also partnered with Rock Shox to create a computer-controlled shock known as “e.i”, for Electronic Intelligence.  A pod attached to the damper contains a servo motor which alters the rear shock’s damping from locked out to open in .01 seconds. A sensor on the crank, hidden in the BB shell determines if the rider is pedaling, while accelerometers located on the stem cap and the fork register the severity of each impact before the rear wheel hits the bump.  This patented suspension advancement only amplifies the ride quality of

Lapierre’s frame design, offering some of the most intelligent and best performing rides on the market.

Spicy
Nico Vouilloz’s ride of choice on the Enduro World Series circuit, the Spicy is built off the revolutionary 27.5’ size wheel and sports 150mm of rear and 160mm of front wheel travel. Full carbon frame features Lapierre’s OST+ suspension design with its e.i suspension technology, the Spicy is incredibly efficient, laterally stiff, and plush. Although the Spicy is built with 27.5” wheels, the frame can be easily converted to run 26” wheels due to a reversible insert (included) on the shock linkage and a 10mm reduction cup for the headset. The Spicy is offered in two models, the Spicy Team and Spicy 527. MSRP $8,000 – 4,500

Zesty AM
Adapted from the Spicy with a slightly steeper headset, longer top tube and a steeper seat tube angle for less weight on the rear wheel, the Zesty AM is the perfect do-it-all, trail bike. The Zesty is offered in three carbon models that feature the e.i suspension and two aluminum models without e.i.  The Zesty AM frame has a tapered head tube, 142x12mm rear thru axel, comes with 27.5” wheels and uses Lapierre’s OST+ suspension design. The full line up: Zesty AM 927, Zesty AM 727, Zesty AM 527, Zesty AM 427, Zesty AM 327. MSRP $8,000 - $2,900

Zesty Trail
Inspired by the XR, but on an all-new Zesty platform, the Zesty Trail mimics the same playful trail ride of the Zesty but is now also offered with 29” wheels. With a relatively slack head tube angle, tapered head tube and 142x12 rear thru axel, the Zesty Trail retains cross-country characteristics.  The Zesty Trail also has a steeper seat tube angle and longer top tube, for 120mm of front and rear travel that attacks the climbs and flies down the descents. The Zesty Trail is offered in one full carbon model, two carbon/aluminum models and two full aluminum models. The full line up: Zesty Trail 929, Zesty Trail 729, Zesty Trail 529, Zesty Trail 429, Zesty Trail 329. MSRP $7,700 - $2,800

XR
Lapierre’s flag ship carbon race bike, the XR was built to be the fastest bike on the market. Using Lapierre’s mono-pivot system, the frame design ensures critical weight loss and maximizes stiffness creating superb sprinting and climbing characteristics, while the larger wheels and e:i suspension paired with 100m of front and rear travel make it equally good on descents. The frame features tapered head tube, internally routed cables and 142x12mm thru axle. The XR is offered in two models, the XR 929 and the XR 729. MSRP $7,700 - $5,700
