By: Nurse Response “Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States, and UV rays are the main cause,” By following the steps below, you can protect your skin and lower your risk of developing skin cancer: Reduce time spent in the sun during its strongest hours – from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Use a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher. Don’t forget to reapply every two hours and after swimming or sweating. Wear long sleeves and a hat that provides shade to your face, ears and neck. · Wear polarized sunglasses that block 99 to 100 percent of UV rays.
