The SEO Power Of Social Media Sites

Social media sites have only grown in visitors and popularity over the years. Google has given increased ranking power to pages on these sites because of this.

July 22, 2013 - PRLog -- As you probably know, Facebook is the biggest site in the world, or at least it's where people spend most of their time.

People visit Google slightly more often, but that's usually just to check something or quickly get diverted to another site, as it's primarily a search engine.

People spend more time on You Tube than Google, and that's right up there in the top five most visited sites in the world.

Twitter is still growing, but it's one of the fastest growing sites in the world, as is Google Plus, which had the most dramatic increase in millions of new accounts created within it's first year in the history of the internet.

Everyone who is anyone has a Facebook page, and if they are into it, a Twitter account as well.

Due to the fact that people search for other people, celebrities, companies etc and want to get the Facebook pagein the search, that's what they give them.

The way to rank a social media profile is to appear as though you were a big celebrity or company.

You do this by getting tons of likes and followers, building other internal links in the site, and getting the same sort of quality back links that you would need to build to rank any other sort of site.

How Important Is It To Rank Your Facebook Page On Google?

Have a think about what happens when people search for you, every page that mentions you turns up, or only what Google thinks are the best ones.

You want to rank for your brand name, (perhaps your domain name), and also your keywords, (which are an exact explanation of what you do).

You can use multiple Facebook pages if you want to rank for both your company name and whatever keyword phrase you determine has a good exact match search volume and low competition.

The point is that it's easier to rank a Facebook page, or a You Tube video, or a Twitter profile by getting the right sorts of social signals relevant to those sites, and by getting some quality back links.

There is more to it than that, like the keyword density of the content you post on the page, and the bounce rate for You Tube videos, but that's basically it, you have a better chance of ranking for any phrase with a social media page than the home page of your site.
