Hip Hop Icon Co-Host Benefit to Make Dreams Come True for 164 Youth and Counting

Yo Yo School of Hip Hop Arts and Academic Music Program hits record numbers in second year in Highland Park, Michigan
 
July 19, 2013 - PRLog -- In these trying economic and societal times, engaging our young people takes a community in unity. Hip Hop Icon, Actress and Philanthropist Yolanda "Yo Yo" Whitaker along with Angie Able are honored to host "Black Tie Affair” on the beautiful Ovation Yacht on Friday, July 26, 2013 ; boarding starts promptly at 7 PM at St. Clair Shores Marina near Detroit, Michigan. Some of the proceeds from this unforgettable gala will benefit the Yo Yo School of Hip Hop Arts and Academic Music Program (YYSHHAAMP) which is making a significant impact in the heart of Michigan.

It will be an extraordinary evening of great music, excellent food, and awesome people in the beautiful water for an amazing cause.  Music will be provided by the magnificent DJ Nick Speed. There will be a “show-stopping” performance by K’Jon as well as a raffle for an IPad. You don't want to miss this epic night of elegance for excellence!

“The support in Michigan is unprecedented. Continuous support is essential for this program to uplift our youth in developing their talent because they are all stars,” stated Yo Yo who also has a program in Los Angeles and Oceanside, CA.

Yo Yo School of Hip Hop Arts and Academic Program encourage empowerment as well as leadership through using the power of hip hop as a tool.   The students gain a wealth of knowledge and experience in music, acting, dancing, artist development and beat production. Just in these courses alone these young leaders obtain basic computer skills, math and science education in addition to health and fitness.  The program made its astounding debut in Highland Park, Michigan during the summer of last year that caused a caravan of love and support from the media, residents, celebrities, businesses as well as community leaders. YYSHHAAMP ensures that no voice goes unheard and no limits to the dreams of tomorrow’s future. Yo Yo was able to make her vision a reality with the out pour of resources and collaboration with the community.

There is a sizzling heat wave in Detroit and Highland Park, Michigan. The heat wave is beginning to rise with a record triple digit numbers registering in the program. There is continuous registration requests received daily since this year’s session began on Monday, July 12, 2013.  With the outstanding support and outreach, YYSHHAAMP has enrolled 164 students this summer.

Yolanda “Yo Yo” Whitaker is a Grammy-nominated legendary female hip hop artist, actress and philanthropist. Yo Yo exploded on the scene in the early 90’s under the keen eye of hip hop icon, Ice Cube. She had several number one hits including “ Stompin to the 90’s,” “You Can’t Play with my Yo Yo” and “Bonnie and Clyde Theme.”  In 2011, Yo Yo opened doors to Yo Yo School of Hip Hop in Los Angeles.
