HERNDON, Va. - July 19, 2013 - PRLog -- ECTOCRYP® BLACK voice communications device provides a secure, high-capacity alternative to current capability with proven interoperability on Department of Defence network.

The Defence Information Systems Agency (DISA) has listed EADS North America's ECTOCRYP® Black high-capacity voice encryption device on its Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (UC APL, https://aplits.disa.mil/processAPList.do) as a Department of Defence Secure Communications Device (DSCD).

The listing follows successful evaluation at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) where ECTOCRYP® Black demonstrated its ability to operate seamlessly with U.S. government networks of a variety of classifications and with existing equipment. The device was granted an Approval to Operate by the National Security Agency in 2012.

"The high capacity and flexibility of ECTOCRYP® Black will make secure, interoperable voice communications possible for the U.S. government on a larger scale than ever before," said Sean O'Keefe, EADS North America Chairman and CEO. "This listing is another major milestone for ECTOCRYP® Black and we're very proud of the trust in EADS North America demonstrated by this listing."

ECTOCRYP® Black has four T1 interfaces that allow for 92 simultaneous, individual calls per unit and the ability to store hundreds of cipher keys. It provides interoperability between classified and unclassified networks to a greater degree than any existing system of its size.

Through the device, users on unclassified networks equipped with Secure Communications Interoperability Protocol (SCIP)-compliant phones can communicate transparently with secured enclaves and engage in enterprise services, such as secure teleconferencing with multiple locations.

Developed by EADS' Cassidian division as part of a line of programmable cryptographic devices, ECTOCRYP® Black uses a common commercial off-the- shelf hardware architecture.

The architecture can be programmed to accommodate new features and technology standards to provide interoperability with different types of networks as current networks change. When used in conjunction with media gateways, ECTOCRYP® Black gives red enclaves interoperability with both time division multiplexing and internet protocol-based voice systems.
