Heywood Hospital Hosts Informational Seminar on Breastfeeding Your Baby

July 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Gardner, MA –Heywood Hospital will be holding an evening informational session about feeding options for newborns and why “breast is best.” This event will be held on Thursday, August 1st from 6 – 8 pm in the Heywood Hospital Dining Room and is part of the kickoff celebration for World Breastfeeding Week, which runs from August 1st through August 7th.

The event is hosted by Heywood Hospital’s LaChance Maternity Center and will feature a panel of maternal/child experts including Gail Chafee, RN, IBCLC Lactation Consultant; Paul Carpentier, MD, Family Practice; Sherri Rickan, RN, BSN, Childbirth Educator; Karen Beaton, RNC, BSN, MS, Director of Maternal/Child Health; Kim Gelineau, Certified Lactation Counselor, WIC; Aysia Wanner, Certified Lacation Counselor, WIC; and Lynn Sayarath of the Breastfeeding Support Group.

Parents who attend will discover the differences between breast milk and formula and learn why breastfeeding is so important for infants. Heywood Hospital’s maternal child experts will also discuss the effects of Labor & Delivery practices on breastfeeding and provide information on services available at Heywood Hospital. Refreshments will be served, and 15-minute massages will be offered. Door prize raffles include breast pumps, Gardner Ale House gift certificates, baby t-shirts and more!
