STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - July 17, 2013 - PRLog -- The food service industry is a booming business nowadays. Due to the demand of food everywhere, most businessmen have openly accepted the risk and open a wide variety of restaurants and hotels despite the tight competition in every area. Having a restaurant has its advantages, but one must first plan ahead to make the business successful.

Cooking in restaurants and hotels require expertise, professionalism and a good set of tools. Nobody could serve delicious food if he or she is only given with a mediocre set of equipment. Owners should take into consideration the cooking equipment as well as the storage of such materials to ensure a healthy and productive environment in the kitchen.

Most kitchens in restaurants and hotels have a good storage system for cooking supply. Good storage will preserve the cooking supplies and keep the bacteria away to prevent health problems in food. Also, keeping them safely stored will prevent the loss of such materials and save the time in looking for them.  Delays are unforgivable in restaurants. You do not want to lose customers just because you keep misplacing cooking tools in the kitchen.

There are different guidelines to consider in storing cooking supply. Here are some tips to ensure that you will succeed in the storage department.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.
After using the utensils for cooking, clean them thoroughly. You can use clean gloves, hot  water and anti-bacterial soap to eliminate the debris in utensils. After a while, get them out and wipe them with clean towels. For wooden materials, let them air- dry before storing. Kitchen staff should prevent the bacteria from entering the storage so it is suggested to practice the cleaning process  daily.

2.    When the materials are already dried, store them in the proper places. Make sure to separate the materials according to their use such as serving and cooking. This method will help the kitchen staff to save precious time in getting the right materials. It is best to have them memorize the setup of the storage beforehand.

3.    Make sure to provide a large space for storage of kitchen supplies. For storages that are already tight and messy, assign someone to sort it out to avoid overcrowding. Overcrowding will prevent the air to circulate, thus, the tight spot will eventually breed bacteria in moisture. Be sure to have a good ventilation system in the storage to keep the materials moist- free.

4.    Clean the storage twice a month. This is to ensure that your kitchen supplies are still in tip top shape to use. Avoid using dirty rags or filthy mops or else you will be spreading the bacteria yourself. Sanitize the area and remind the kitchen staff to always wear rubber gloves in cleaning. Do not ignore mossy spots and have them wiped as soon as possible.

TIPS & WARNINGS:

1.
Daily checks are in order. Assign someone to check the equipment when the store closes at night.

Safety is a top priority in restaurants. As a restaurant owner, you should make it your duty to ensure that the customers will have a wonderful gastronomic experience without sacrificing their health. Don't forget to check out
