MILTON KEYNES, U.K. - July 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Luton: SKF (http://www.skf.com/uk/index.html), the knowledge engineering company, has launched the SKF Spindle Assessment Kit (http://www.skf.com/uk/services/remanufacturing-services/manchine-tool-spindle-service/predictive-maintenance-solutions/index.html?WT.oss=spindle%20assessment%20kit&WT.z_oss_boost=0&tabname=All&WT.z_oss_rank=1), a new solution for condition monitoring and quality control that improves machine tool output and reduces downtime. The kit is easy to set up and operate, enabling engineers to identify problems early by swiftly measuring and interpreting key spindle operating data.

A constant challenge for engineers and operators is the fact that a number of variables can affect machine tool performance, including running accuracy, vibration, thermal behaviour and also rigidity. However, the SKF Spindle Assessment Kit brings convenience to the assessment of machine tool performance with eight different condition tests, the results of which provide users with a comprehensive understanding of why their spindle might be working incorrectly or inefficiently. The kit also allows users to recalibrate a spindle with outstanding accuracy and that, in turn, helps extend machine tool life and improve cutting quality.

The SKF Spindle Assessment Kit comprises an SKF Microlog Advisor Pro unit, an acceleration sensor, laser tachometer, dial gauge with stand, belt tension gauge and software package. With a high-resolution LCD display that colour codes data into intuitive green-yellow-red results, the kit is an extremely user-friendly tool that offers over eight hours of continuous operation time as standard. Designed within a high-impact case that provides an IP65 dust and splash rating, the kit is also a robust solution suitable for a range of operating conditions.

“The kit will allow operators to control machine tool spindle quality at the highest level and safeguard what is a vital component of the production process for many manufacturers,” stated Phil Burge, Country Communication Manager at SKF (U.K.) Limited.
