Social Fantasy Sports Startup Launches Fixed Funding Indiegogo campaign for Fall Beta Test

Vancouver, Canada, July 12th, 2013 – Vancouver-based Sodraft.com tries an innovative perk strategy on international crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, utilizing horizontal partnerships and Beta test ad inventory. Their unique perks include:

·         - $20 credit with online ticket broker Lavatickets.com

·         - 100% first deposit bonus with StartStreet.com daily fantasy sports up to max allowable deposit

·         - A signed Shaquille O’Neal size 22 shoe and a 1936 New York Yankees World Series Championship team signed baseball from CardboardMemories.com

·         - Pre-purchased ad packages for Beta Test ranging in cost from $250 to $10,000.

“As we do not produce consumer goods and we will never charge our users to play on our platform, we could not go with a traditional perk strategy.” Said Krishna Jolliffe, Founder and CEO of Sodraft. “We had to determine an innovative way by which we could offer our supporters, and potential future members, some value so they feel comfortable contributing to our campaign. We are therefore thrilled we were able to find 3 reputable companies who offer great products and customer service to a similar target market, who believe in what we are doing and were happy to partner with us for the campaign.  To offer additional perk options at the higher levels, we decided to try pre-selling our primary future revenue stream – our ad inventory. From our research, we could not find any other crowdfunding campaign which has attempted these strategies, so this campaign will be a test within itself.”

Similar to how sites like Fan Duel and Draft Street created a new “Daily” Fantasy Sports Market, Sodraft aims to create a new “Social” Fantasy Sports Market. Driven by a proprietary serpentine draft simulator, Sodraft’s “X-Draft” generates almost 7 trillion unique team combinations, all without compromising the core integrity of the most-popular traditional snake draft. Sodraft will bring to market the first platform which can accommodate unlimited users all competing together in one large league, or separately in a number of public and user-generated private groups.

The Fantasy Sports Trade Association estimates that close to 36 million North Americans, or 1 in 9, participated in at least one fantasy league in 2011. As the popularity of Fantasy Sports grows, many large companies are competing for market share of the same traditional fantasy games which have been popular for the past 2 decades. The exception to this is the rise in popularity of Daily Fantasy Sports over the past few years, which confirms that a large percentage of the user base is looking for alternative games above any beyond their annual small traditional leagues.

Sodraft’s mission is to put fantasy sports enthusiasts in total control of their fantasy sports by making it social. “Everyone within our target market who has tried our draft loves it, and we know the total market is large enough that we will have success in some capacity”, said Founder Krishna Jolliffe. “We just need to create awareness, and I am confident our innovative Indiegogo campaign has the power to reach a large portion of our target market and let them know who we are and what we do.”

About Sodraft

Sodraft.com (previously FantasySportsArena.net) was conceived in 2011 when Founder Krishna Jolliffe first acknowledge the need for a social drafting platform in the Fantasy Sports Market. With the help of friends and family funding, he was able to assemble a strong core team, secure intellectual property rights for his drafting system, and then develop and launch an alpha platform in the spring of 2012 for the commencement of the MLB season. Lack of momentum and failure to secure funding led to the site being shut down only 3 months after launch.

Although he then considered dissolving the company, Krishna was re-inspired in the fall of 2012 when watching a video of Mark Zuckerberg’s presentation at Y Combinator Startup School where Mr. Zuckerberg said, “My view of the world is that almost every product in category is going to get transformed and re-imagined to be social”. Shortly after, Krishna reassembled the team and brought on some amazing new members to fill in the previous gaps. After then assessing previous mistakes, a complete re-brand, and construction of a solid new strategy, Sodraft was back on track to launching a revised platform in 2013.

Today, Sodraft is ready to launch a Beta Test but is looking to Indiegogo to raise enough capital to cover the hosting fees and licensing fees associated with the real-time statistics for Fantasy Points’ calculations. Sodraft aims to become the primary social platform for fantasy sports world-wide.
