Web Wise Media Talks About Bloomberg’s Report On Deflation of the Social Media Bubble

SEO experts are scratching their heads in light of signs indicating the impact of social media on Internet traffic and sales, and more is waning. And social media company’s money supply from venture capitalist has been cut to a trickle.

LOS ANGELES - July 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Bloomberg Reports recently posted a story on the state of social media companies. The title of the report is; "The Social Media Bubble Is Quietly Deflating."

Writer Joshua Brustein has done his homework and the chatter around water coolers in coming weeks will be intense.

The report continues, “A former Facebook engineer summed up the situation with a memorable lament, “The best minds of my generation are thinking about how to make people click ads.”

Brustein's insightful report continues, “recent venture capital investments in social media companies were only about 2 percent, or $6.5 million of the $3.625 billion in venture capital funds that went to Internet enterprises in the last quarter.”

What this means to the Internet community is neither the best news nor the worst news in regard to what Internet marketers should focus on as a must-do shift in strategy. After all, Facebook has more than 300 million members and their potential impact on revenue for socially savvy marketers is formidable. Social media marketing is still on the table and definitely on the rise, however, not at the pace at which it moved at this time last year.

This shift could most likely present a challenge to old school marketers who tend to limit their SEO focus to backlinking and social media marketing VS creating a higher quality, niche matched backlinking system coupled with an engagement strategy toward social media marketing. After all, it’s the engagement taking place inside the social media environment that builds strong brands that grow. And the traffic that is generated from loyal social media fans and followers is a much welcomed by-product.

However, this means that marketers in general, who have their hopes set on grabbing a huge share of the daily millions passing through the Internet, must adopt a solid set of basic requirements. For example, short cutting SEO strategies, because of the challenge of speculating about Google’s next shift of strategy is counter-productive. Value based search engine optimization demonstrates the most solid path to attracting more traffic. And it is a mandatory focus of any Internet marketer who expects to be successful in the long run.

Web Wise Media’s Danielle Sage says, “Bottom line, in a world where the shift away from total dependence on keyword driven content searches has been moving forward for more than two years, real SEO professionals are finally getting their due. It’s about content that delivers real value and knowing how to use the tools that match visitor’s preferences. That takes more than a part time focus, it takes a company that thrives on performance.”
