AccuVis Bio now deals with Urine-Based Candida albicans PCR Detection Kit

ABU DHABI, UAE - July 16, 2013 - PRLog -- AccuVis Bio is now dealing with Norgen’s Urine-Based Candida albicans PCR Detection Kit constituents a complete, ready-to-use system for the isolation and detection of Candida albicans using end-point PCR. The kit first allows for the isolation of fungal DNA from the urine samples using a convenient spin-column. The fungal DNA is isolated free from PCR inhibitors, and can then be used as the template in a PCR reaction for Candida albicans detection using the provided Candida albicans Master Mix. The Chlamydia Master Mix contains reagents and enzymes for the specific amplification of a 308 bp region of Candida albicans. In addition, Norgen’s Urine -Based Candida albicans PCR Detection Kit contains a second heterologous amplification system and controls to identify possible false negatives and/or inadequate isolation. The kit is designed to allow for the testing of 24 samples and is ideal for use in surveillance of drug resistant pathogens, epidemiologial studies, field surveillance of pathogens and surveys. The Candida albicans PCR Primer Set and Controls are also available separately for endpoint PCR detection.

Candida albicans is the most common fungal pathogen of humans and has developed an extensive repertoire of putative virulence mechanisms that allows successful colonization and infection of the host under suitable predisposing conditions. Candida infections are a problem of growing clinical importance, and C. albicans has become the fourth leading cause of nosocomial infections. Candida species usually reside as commensal organisms as part of an individual's normal microflora and can be detected in approximately 50% of the population in this form. However, if the balance of the normal flora is disrupted or the immune defenses are compromised, Candida species often become pathogenic.
