The primary funding for the Hope on Wheels campaign to wipe out cancer comes from Hyundai and Hyundai dealerships, and over the past fifteen years, they have worked hard to both celebrate the lives of children affected by cancer as well as contribute funding toward finding better treatments or a cure.

The two main grants given out by the initiative are the Hyundai Scholar Grant and the Hyundai Hope Grant. The Scholar Grant program began in 2006 and visits children's hospitals all over the country to raise awareness and make donations in person. Each stop on the tour involves a “handprint ceremony,” where kids put colorful painted handprints onto a white Santa Fe Sport. The handprint is supposed to represent one of the most personal identifiers of childhood while remaining unique to each child, and Hyundai wants to be able to share these children's successes at every stop the Santa Fe visits.

The program is set to donate over $14 million in 2013, accounting for nearly twenty percent of the program's donations to date and representing a significant growth for the charity.
