Medical Research Network selects pm3time from Bestoutcome for time management

Web-based application will measure resource utilisation and skills requirements

July 15, 2013 - PRLog -- London – Bestoutcome (http://www.bestoutcome.com/), the leading consultancy specialising in outcome-driven project management, announced today that pm3time (http://www.bestoutcome.com/pm3time.html), its web-based timesheet application, has been selected by the Medical Research Network (MRN).  The clinical trial support organisation will be using pm3time across the majority of the organisation to accurately measure resource utilisation and skills requirements, following a successful trial.

All MRN employees are required to carry out a variety of different roles, across various projects. pm3time was selected because it enables staff to measure and track time against specific projects they are working on but also to define which role they are carrying out at any given time. Time can be entered by day, part of a day, or by the hour, and is displayed in a weekly view.

Historically MRN recorded all this information on spreadsheets and then analysed it at the end of the month.  It would take a day every month to collate the relevant data across its growing workforce.  The management team soon realised that with its ambitious plans for growth, this could quickly spiral out of control as the company got bigger.

Simon Mouncer, finance director for the Medical Research Network said:  “We were looking to replace our Excel based system and pm3time offered us a simple to implement, off the shelf solution which met our needs as a growing SME.”

pm3time enables MRN to record time to the level of granularity it requires so that they can get an improved understanding of how to effectively resource projects and identify the skills needed across the organisation.  Bestoutcome has created two tailored pm3time reports to match what MRN had previously been doing manually, which saves the company administration time each month.

“pm3 time significantly reduces the administrative burden of completing and approving manual timesheets, increasing the likelihood of accurate timesheet data, simplifying reporting and allowing closer control of time booked and project costs,” says David Walton, CEO, Bestoutcome. “As the application is web-based an advantage is that timesheets and reports can be accessed from any location and administrators can get an accurate picture of resourcing in real time.”

pm3time can be integrated with PM3 (http://www.bestoutcome.com/pm3/), Bestoutcome’s flagship project, programme and portfolio management software, so that time records can be imported to gain an instant view of resources used against budget and capacity and actual effort against forecasted effort.
