Christian Torresluna, Recipient of the 2012 YMCAOC Distinguished Service Award

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - July 12, 2013 - PRLog -- The YMCA of Orange County (YMCAOC) has been bestowing the Chairman’s Distinguished Service Award to volunteers since 1978. The award is given to a volunteer from each branch that has gone above and beyond the call of duty, be it in securing financial contributions or in donating their time and talent. This year, Fullerton resident Christian Torresluna was recognized for the 2012 Chairman’s Distinguished Service Award for his amazing service, dedication and commitment to the YMCA.

Christian Torresluna has been a member of the Fullerton Family YMCA branch board for 4 years and has always been very supportive of the YMCA and its mission. As a member of the local community, he was able to help understand the needs of the Fullerton community so he can serve them better and fulfill the mission and vision of the YMCA. Chris is very dedicated to the advancement of the Y.  He and his family are facility members and he actively promotes the Y’s mission to other members, volunteers, donors, staff and community leaders. Chris always brings new ideas of how to improve programming and better serve our members and our surrounding communities.  

“The YMCA has become so much more to me in the years since I have become a member. It is a part of the family now. In this organization I have met some of the finest people in Orange County. For my family, it is a warm place full of fun, love, and the occasional workout. It has been an absolute honor to volunteer with this organization and to become part of a unstoppable wave of good will in the community. I do not volunteer with the intent of ever being recognized; however, receiving this award is a deep felt honor. I am proud of the work the Y does and am proud to be included. I love this organization, I love supporting them, working with them, and serving them.”

The YMCAOC is grateful for Christian Torresluna and the many years of service he has given to and through the Y. Dedicated volunteers ensure that the Y will continue to lead the way in fostering youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
